Why Live With A Mission?
Edith Schaeffer said that a home is a door with hinges and a lock. Hinges to let in the world and a lock to, at times, keep it out.
Our home tends to be more of a "hinges" type of home. On any given day, we will probably have welcomed multiple people into our home.
On the mission field, we sometimes have short-term missionaries living with us.
We disciple and have Bible studies in our house.
The school-aged children of our colleagues sometimes come over for classes. Thankfully, their teachers come too.
Some days neighbors come to chat. Other days we have delivery men or salespeople stop by.
This website is intended to be another form of hinges for our family.
You probably can't come to our door. But we would love to have you "drop in" to our website for a chat.
And if there is any way we can encourage you in your walk for the Lord or in your pursuit of your mission, let us know.
Because we each should have a mission, a sacrificial gift, for the Lord.
The cross demands it.
In this day of individual "rights" and instant gratification, that sounds ridiculous.
We want microwaves and McDonalds. . . not missions.
We want cruises and cars. . . not crosses.
We want superstar status. . . not sacrifice.
But let's remind ourselves that the way up is down and the way to life is through death.
Christ says, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it." --Matthew 16:24-25
And He knows what crosses are all about.
He knows sacrifice.
His sacrifice for you was an extravagant sacrifice.
What is your sacrifice for Him?
Are you living with a mission?
